The Department of Infrastructure has plans to improve access for emergency services vehicles around the airport.
Officials are seeking permission to refurbish a slipway on Airport Road in Derbyhaven to provide better access towards the beach from the area.
In its application, the DOI says the existing one is in poor condition and only allows vehicles to get through from one direction.
In a proposal statement, its added design work began following a request from the Airport Fire Service, with factor such as Areas of Significant Scientific Interest (ASSI), location, environment and unauthorised access all taken into consideration.
