It’s been identified that Douglas Harbour could be used as the base for the operation and maintenance of wind farms located inside and just outside of Manx waters.
The Department of Infrastructure have been working alongside DEFA and Economic Development to ensure the Island benefits from the proposed wind farm scheme.
Although Centrica are yet to finalise details of their future wind farms, there is concern that there could be a potential negative impact on the Steam Packet’s Heysham and Liverpool routes.
The DoI are working closely with the Steam Packet to assess the scale of any adverse impacts.
