The Department of Infrastructure says if your local grit bin has run out of salt, you can report it to be restocked.
On Facebook, the department says each salt bin has a unique ID number on a sticker on its lid.
If you contact Highways Services using the contact number on the sticker, you can give the reference number to help its staff.
You can also report empty bins online via the DOI's Report A Problem website.
