On Facebook, the department says it's making good progress and has installed, commissioned and inspected track and points at Castle Mona Avenue.
It says work still remains, such as installing improved signage and traffic controls as well as Rail preparation and grinding works.
Although the DOI is hoping to finish its outstanding tasks by the end of July, it says it may be delayed by weather and staff and equipment availability.
