DHSS Launch Scheme to Protect Those Who Cant Get travel Insurance for the UK
In light of the ending of the Reciprocal Health Agreement the DHSS have identified a number of people on the Island who would find it difficult if not impossible to source and afford health insurance cover for trips to the UK.
The people who fall into that category are people with a history of medical illness, or existing conditions that would considerably improve the risk of them falling ill while across.
The new scheme would see cover offered to people who have recieved three refusals from insurance companies, at a cost of £50 they would be covered for 21 days.
The same applies to people who are on Social Security benefits and are unable to shoulder the cost of expensive cover as a result of a previous or existing medical condition.
DHSS Minister Eddie Teare told 3FM more about the scheme.
