The Department of Home Affairs says one in three people who went to prison last year had previously served a custodial sentence.
A Freedom of Information request asked how many people were jailed in 2022, how many had previous convictions, and how many had been to prison before.
The DHA says 113 people were sent to Jurby last year, on remand or to serve a sentence.
Of those, 71 had previous convictions and 40 had served jail time before.
