An Island housing developer is helping children at an Island nursery enjoy learning and being active outdoors.
Hartford Homes has created a new woodland kitchen for the Buchan Nursery which is tucked away in the woods The Buchan School site.
The new space includes a brand new mud kitchen with a sink, cooker and lots of cupboards where pupils can follow their own interests and make creations using the pots and pans, as well as the natural resources that surround them, such as grass, mud and water that has been collected in the new water butt.
Leader of the Nursery’s Buchan Rangers programme, Eva Boyd, says: "The Buchan School has such wonderful grounds for the children of the school and nursery to play in. With a helping hand from the Hartford Homes team, we now have some lovely new equipment and outdoor resources to be a permanent fixture in the woods.
"Play is such an important part of childhood and it is so beautiful to provide these children with the opportunity to play, form friendships, follow their own interests, find their confidence and take risks outdoors, whatever the weather.
"The benefits are huge, mentally and physically. We are all so very grateful and can't thank Hartford Homes enough."
