A contract has been offered to potential new operators of the NSC cafe.
The Local Democracy Reporting Service understands a contract has been signed and is awaiting ratification before an official announcement is made.
It’s believed there were 30 expressions of interest to run the site which has been out of use since March last year.
Operators were sought in January earlier this year, asking potenital suitors to ‘transform the cafe at the NSC into a focal point for guests and visitors’.
The site, which is located near the indoor swimming pool and sports halls, was previously run by the Department of Education, Sport and Culture.
It was shut following the government’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.
Inviting interest to run the cafe, Dr Alex Allinson -the department’s minister – said it was an opportunity for it to be ‘reinvented with its own identity’.
