The Department of Education says it's 'deeply concerned' about the effects any potential strike from teachers could have on children's education.
It comes as three unions representing teachers on Island (NAHT, NASUWT and ASCL) are balloting members today over possible action over an ongoing pay dispute.
Government officials add they are continuing to work with the Manx Industrial Relations Service (MIRS) to achieve a 'swift resolution'.
The ballot papers being sent to union members ask whether teaching staff should take industrial action, which includes the possibility of a walkout.
