A Decision Will Be Made This Afternoon About Fully Re-Opening Ballerkermeen
About 10% of the Islands teachers are currently stranded due to flight cancellations as a result of the volcanic ash cloud. There were fears that schools may not be able to fully open. Year 7, 8 and 9 pupils at Ballerkermeen have been given the day off due to staff shortages. Over 17 staff from the school are not on the Island. Minister for Education and Children Eddie Teare told three FM they will assess the situation throughout the day. (audio above) The Restrictions on UK flights has just been extended till least 1AM on Tuesday. So it's still unclear when the stranded teachers will make it back to the Island.
