Any Public Housing Rent Hikes Will Only Come After Consultation, Say Department of Social Care
The Department of Social Care have commented on the rumours currently circulating that significant rent hikes in public sector housing are about to be introduced.
The Department issued a statement amid growing concern that the rent increases had been finalised, they've said this isn’t the case, and as yet no decisions have been taken and no changes are planned.
People living in public sector housing have been reassured that if changes are to be introduced they will be as a result of a major consultation before hand.
However local authorities have expressed concerns to the Department that the current rents are not high enough to sustain their costs.
