Department of Infrastructure want to dispose of Solway Harvester

It was revealed in the House of Keys today that Government would like to begin the process of disposing of the Solway Harvester.

The scallop dredger sank off the coast of the Island over 12 years ago and has been based in Douglas Harbour ever since.

This was the case as it needed to be accessible whilst legal proceedings were being carried out, it’s now deemed to pose a risk, with the Department of Infrastructure wanting to begin the disposal process as soon as it’s practical.

The last piece of legal advice the Department received said it should remain where it is until it’s known whether or not there will be a settlement.

Minister Cretney stated he believed it’s time to move on.
