The Department of Health and Social Care says it doesn't know how many people on the Island are obese or how much the problem costs each year.
A Freedom of Information request to the department asked about how many people were obese and whether the problem is growing.
The DHSC, in its response, says it doesn't collect figures on obesity here.
However, it said the Public Health or Manx Care might be able to supply the data.
