The Department of Education and Children has hit out on the results of a recent teachers' survey.
The teachers' union, National Association of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers, released a statement claiming educators on the Island are the 'worst off' in the whole of the British Isles.
The union says Manx teachers have been the 'hardest hit' by pay cuts, with more than half of staff members unhappy with their current pay, and two thirds considering leaving the profession all together.
However, the DEC says out of 850 full time teachers, the union has only surveyed 112 people - only an eighth of the overall number.
The department says it doesn't believe the survey is reflective of the workforce as a whole.
