Undergraduate Students to Meet Grade Requirement for Funding from 2011/12
The newly formed Department of Education and Children have unveiled a restructured student funding system.
The main changes are that students doing a postgraduate degree who seek funding must enter into it with at least a second class honours degree, from 2011/2012 students seeking funding for undergraduate courses will have needed to obtain at least two C’s at A Level.
Students will also be actively encouraged to take courses that directly support the Island’s economic development.
The changes have been introduced in an effort to cope with ever increasing demand on funding and the inevitable strain its putting on the Department’s budget.
Even in light of the proposed changes it would still place the Isle of Man at the top of the pile in terms of provision offered to students seeking higher education.
