Dental decay in children targeted in new Oral Health Strategy

The strategy will be in place from now until 2016.

The Department of Health’s new Oral Health Strategy will endeavour to use education to combat issues like dental decay in younger children.

The strategy was put together with the help of a public consultation carried out last year, it was clear respondents wanted to see a major revision to the approach to the Island’s oral healthcare.

The key targets are to reduce the prevalence of dental decay, especially in young children, to ensure access to urgent out of hours and elective care is available to all and also to modernise the primary dental care services.

The strategy will be in place from now until 2016.
