Defective concrete blocks identified in new Ramsey properties

Residents may be forced out temporarily whilst issue is taken care of

Tenants in a number of new Ramsey Town Commissioner properties may have to be moved temporarily after concrete blocks used in the houses’ external wall construction were found to be defective.

The defects have resulted in cracking to the external render.

The affected properties are in Gladstone Avenue and Pairk Ollay, phase one of the Lezayre Estate redevelopment.

The cause of the defect in the blocks has been identified and later phases of the development are unaffected

Findings from an investigation have revealed that the problem is attributed to defective materials and not to faulty workmanship.

Further updates will be issued, meantime all enquiries should be directed to Ramsey Town Commissioners’ housing office.
