Tynwald will be asked to approve a major spending exercise for the refurbishment of the Meat Plant later this month.
The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture will be asking for £1,600,000 for the works.
The proposed scheme was outlined in the Budget last month.
According to the department the majority of the money will go on repairing the existing facilities.
A lot of the equipment has been in place for the duration of the plants 20 year life and is in need of upgrade.
