DEFA doesn't know how many chickens were slain

The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture says it doesn't know how many chickens were killed in St Johns during a recent cull.

A Freedom of Information request asked for more details on the killings at the Arboretum, including what happened to carcasses afterwards.

In its response, DEFA says it carried out the cull humanely after complaints from nearby residents about the birds.

But it says it doesn't have any information on how many were killed or how their bodies were disposed of.
