Douglas Borough Council has resolved to reduce its number of wards and its membership.
It's moved to cut down wards from six to four, and membership from 18 down to 12.
In a statement, council leader David Christian says the time has come to provide 'a new, more entrepreneurial model of local government for Douglas'.
An outcome on a public inquiry on the matter is expected tomorrow - Mr Christian added should it report positively, the new structure of government for the Island's capital will come into effect in 2020.
