The date for the Isle of Man joining one the three Rio Conventions has been confirmed as August 6.
DEFA Minister Phil Gawne described it as another milestone for the Island’s national heritage.
He added that the department had been working towards this for some time and it will have a huge influence on maintaining the Island’s natural beauty.
In the spring the Isle of Man received notification that the UK’s Foreign Secretary had signed the letter to the UN, saying that the UK had agreed to the extension of the Convention on Biological Diversity to the Isle of Man.
