DASH has all of its funding cut by government

The Island’s Drug Advice Support and Helpline has had all its government funding cut by the Department of Social Care.

This is believed to be just shy of £110,000 and will come in to effect in August.

DASH confirmed the rumours on its Facebook page, saying it amounted to £85,000 for the adult service it currently offers and £25,000 to fund a part-time young persons worker, DASH had then planned to raise the extra to fund it full time.

In total, this equates to around 85% of the organisation’s funding.

DASH provides a confidential telephone helpline and one-to-one support to drug users and their families as well as providing education in schools and youth services.
