Raw sewerage discharge is flowing directly onto Mooragh beach.
Ramsey Commissioners are advising the public to avoid the area north of Mooragh beach after the outfall pipe was damaged during construction works in the area of the Vollan Pump Station.
As a result the sewerage, which is being screened to remove tissue and other non-organic material, is being discharged directly onto the upper section of the Ramsey beach.
Contractors are on site to repair the site - works are being monitored by officers from the Manx Utility Authority and Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture.
The public is being asked to avoid the area while repairs take place.
