Curator behind TITANICa exhibition to visit Island

William Blair - the chief curator of the TITANICa exhibition

The chief curator of the new Titanic exhibition in Northern Ireland will visit the Isle of Man to host a lecture about the famous ship.

To mark the centenary of the maritime tragedy, Manx National Heritage has invited William Blair to the Island – the man behind the new TITANICa exhibition at the National Museums.

He will talk about the design and build of the world’s largest vessel of its time, which cost £1.5 million, the shipyard where it was built and will reveal what life was like onboard.

For a sea-faring nation the Isle of Man was intrigued by the Titanic’s story and the Manx press often reported on the design and build of the ship.

When the Titanic sank the people of the Isle of Man raised money for the widows and orphans and held a memorial service at The Palace which drew a crowd of more than 5,000 people.

Tickets are on sale now for the lecture which takes place on April 20th at the Manx Museum. Doors open at 6pm. Pre-booking is recommended. To buy ticket online visit www.manxheritageshop.com.
