A Ramsey commissioner's social media comments about the death of American activist Charlie Kirk are being investigated.
Elizabeth Shimmin posted on Facebook asking 'what is wrong with people', and saying that Mr Kirk should 'burn in hell' in response to a tribute posted on the site.
Commissioners Vice-Chair Sandra Cottam-Shea said the investigation now takes precedence and there won’t be any further public discussion.
She added the local authority has no mechanism to remove Ms Shimmin from her post and is a matter for her to 'reconcile' with her actions.
