A Ramsey man who committed suicide in April text his ex-partner to tell her his life wasn't worth living without her before he died.
At Douglas Courthouse yesterday the inquest into the death of 33-year-old Edward Binnie was formally concluded.
The purchasing officer was found by his sister-in-law at his home on Balleigh Park on April 24th - he'd died from asphyxia due to hanging.
The court heard Mr Binnie and his ex-partner, who'd been together since they were 16, had split up six weeks before - in a statement from his mother she said the split had left her son 'very low'.
The mother of his four children said he'd threatened to kill himself on previous occasions when the couple had separated saying he 'couldn't handle change' and the pair being apart.
Data downloaded from his iPhone showed he'd sent numerous text messages to her in the hours before his death saying things like 'sorry I can't do this anymore' and 'I wish it didn't end like this'.
The court was told Mr Binnie, who was born in Berlin, was not registered with a doctor and had no history of contact with the Mental Health Service.
Recording a verdict of suicide Coroner John Needham said it was clear, with the benefit of hindsight, Mr Binnie's intention had been to 'take his own life'.
He described it as an 'impulsive act' saying on this occasion it was regrettable that he'd 'gone through with his actions'.
The Coroner concluded proceedings by saying it was clear that the balance of Mr Binnie's mind was 'disturbed' on the day he died adding 'clearly he was beyond thinking straight'.
