Douglas Council has teamed up with a major UK charity to crack down on cigarette butts during the Manx Grand Prix.
The corporation says it’s the Island’s most common form of litter, which can also wash into the sea and threaten marine life with toxic chemicals.
Working with the Keep Britain Tidy organisation, the council’s rolling out extra bins, free portable ashtrays, and awareness campaigns.
It’s hoping the drive will both change people’s behaviour in the long-term, and reduce cigarette litter during the MGP by at least 20%.
