Could you 'sponsor a pen' at the MSPCA?

A local charity is asking for a helping hand going into the new year.

The Manx SPCA is asking the public to 'sponsor a pen' - in either the kennels, cattery or small animal unit in 2022.

Every year the MSPCA take in over 1,700 animals - they have either been lost or abandoned, escaped cruelty or neglectful conditions; or their owners have moved away or died, or they can simply no longer afford to keep them.

They then provide the animals with love and care in a safe environment until they find their new ‘forever’ homes, alongside making sure animals receive regular veterinary checks and medical conditions are attended to.

The charity relies purely on donations to rescue and rehome animals - because it receives no government funding.

It adds with the pandemic over the last few years - it's a 'trying time'.

The pen sponsorship scheme requires an annual subscription of £100 - and will ensure  an animal is safe and warm in a pen that they can call home with food, bedding, toys and treats.

In return a sponsor will receive:

- the choice of which area you would like to support
- a name plaque on the pen to recognise you or your organisation
- a personalised certificate

And, of course, you can come and visit Ard Jerkyll during our opening hours and see the animals who are benefitting from your sponsorship.

If you are interested in sponsoring a pen you can email Liam.rice@manxspca.com.
