Hotels and other accommodation providers could be forced to impose a Biospehere levy on guests, if a Ramsey MHK gets his way.
When Tynwald meets in July, Lawrie Hooper will ask members to back introducing a levy for short-term accommodation providers on each bed or room each night.
In his motion, he says the proceeds would then be used to help the Island's visitor economy and promote the Isle of Man as a visitor destination.
Mr Hooper wants Treasury and the Department for Enterprise, to report back to Tynwald by next April.
