Contentious Issue to be Debated in Public Meeting Tonight
The contentious issue of voluntary euthanasia will be up for discussion tonight at a public meeting.
It’s a highly controversial topic that has grabbed the headlines over the past few years, with Switzerland being the only place terminally ill people can go to if they want to bring an end to their lives.
A petition carried out on the Island received 4500 signatures in support of voluntary euthanasia.
Jo Cartwright from UK Charity, Dignity in Dying will be on hand to speak in favour of the issue, with local Methodist Preacher Peter Murcott putting forward the case against.
The Meeting will get underway at 7.30 tonight at the Manx Legion Club in Douglas.
