Consultation shows majority don't want MOT testing

More people are against introducing compulsory vehicle testing in the Isle of Man than in favour.

That's the verdict from a public consultation into whether the government should introduce MOT-style tests here.

Currently, there's just a single test carried out on cars brought to the Island that are more than three years old.

The director of highways says around 10 per cent of accidents on Manx roads are because of faulty vehicles.

Richard Pearson says proposals are now being drawn up and considered by the DoI and suggested some limited testing would be better than none.
