There will be no rival shipping service to transport TT visitors to and from the Island this year.
Ellan Vannin Line confirmed on Friday that its application for a new freight and separate passenger service had been rejected.
The company had planned to be up and running in March, but it says it can no longer give a definitive start date.
Its application to use the links span bridges in Douglas has reportedly been dismissed by the director of ports.
