An Island company has appeared in court over the death of one of its workers.
Pooil Vaaish Black Limestone of Ballabeg appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.
The company, based at Grenaby Studios, hasn’t yet entered a plea to one count each of breaching health and safety regulations and failing to discharge its duty to an employee.
Prosecutor Barry Swain told the hearing 30 year old Nathan Harvey died at a site on Douglas Road in Ballasalla on June 21 last year.
The court heard a slab of granite fell onto him as he and a workmate tried to move it with a forklift truck.
Mrs Hughes said her powers of sentencing were insufficient to deal with the case, and committed it to the Court of General Gaol Delivery.
The company will appear in the higher court on a date to be fixed.
