A teenager who burgled a community centre and shop in Laxey has been sentenced to probation and community service.
Connor Samuel Hall of Saddle Road in Douglas admitted burglary when he appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes.
The court heard he broke into Mother T’s on Laxey New Road between May 12 and 15, stealing a glass donation jar containing around £400.
Later during a police interview he claimed the large quantity of coins he’d stolen were savings he was going to pay into a bank.
Mrs Hughes ordered the 17 year old to spend a year on probation as well as do 80 hours community service.
