A Ramsey man has been ordered to carry out community service after gift-wrapping stalks of cannabis as Christmas presents.
38-year-old Shane Maximilion Skelly, of Tower Road, was sentenced at Douglas Courthouse this week.
He'd previously admitted possession of the Class B drug and possession of it with intent to supply as well as possession of a Class A substance.
Police stopped Skelly on Main Road in Onchan on December 23rd last year for a traffic matter - he was detained for a drug search and a small amount of cannabis was recovered.
Officers then searched his property where they found just under 50 grams of the drug and a number of stems, wrapped in festive paper, which were valued at £396.
They also found a container of Magic Mushrooms.
Sentencing him Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes ordered him to carry out 160 hours of unpaid work and ordered him to pay prosecution costs of £125.
