Ramsey Commissioners will discuss making a bid for the town's courthouse when the board sits later this week.
On Wednesday the local authority will debate a suggestion from a sub-committee to make an offer of £397,800 for the building.
Part of the deal would also see the commissioners offering the Department of Home Affairs a 26-year free lease for the police office in the town hall.
The suggestion by commissioner Juan McGuinness to the sub-committee on Friday was backed unanimously by members and will now be discussed at the full board meeting.
