Castletown Commissioners says the closure of the Southern Swimming Pool would be a ‘crass move’ that will affect its lower income residents and children.
Government wants to shut it on ‘financial grounds’ with Tynwald members voting on it in February.
In a statement on Facebook, Vice Chair Beth Cannan says that if a community facility can be ‘extinguished’ on financial considerations, rather than the ‘true consideration of value’ to residents, then they are ‘deeply concerned’ about what may follow.
Mrs Cannan also confirmed a request has been made to hold a public meeting about saving the pool.
