Juan McGuinness said he's looking forward to moving forward with a "clean slate".
Ramsey Commissioners have welcomed the withdrawal of government plans for the town's quayside.
The proposals, which were designed to improve flood defences, would have seen the loss of 70 parking spaces in the area.
The £4m scheme also included a new glass and concrete wall.
It was withdrawn after almost 1,000 people signed an online petition launched in opposition.
Speaking to Local Democracy reporter, Sarah Hendy, Commissioner Juan McGuinness said he's looking forward to working with the government on finding alternative ways to provide flood defences for the town.
