A bright and colourful crossing has now been installed across a busy highway in St Johns.
The mosaic-like layout, finished in white and pink, now links the pathway which crosses Curragh Road.
The highway re-opened in mid-June after extensive refurbishment works spanning several months between the Ballacraine traffic lights and Western Civic Amenity Site.
Efforts to complete the project took slightly longer than previously planned because of restrictions earlier this year due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Department of Infrastructure says the Celtic motif 'has been designed to highlight the increased probability and volume of active travel users crossing the road at this point'.
DOI officials add it was deemed the best solution for the section, as zebra crossings aren't permitted in 40mph zones and a three-way puffin crossing would not be appropriate for a rural road.
