Port Erin's coastguard says it and the RNLI were called out to reports of an inflatable kayak in trouble earlier this afternoon.
The kayaker had gotten into difficulty in the offshore breeze and capsized near Gansey Point today, Saturday, July 11.
They had been helped to shore by another kayker.
However, the coastguard says the casualty had been in the water for nearly an hour and was suffering from hypothermia and swallowed water.
They then had to be carried by stretcher over the rocks to an ambulance.
