Coast 2 Coast tomorrow

Hundreds of residents are set to take part in the annual Coast 2 Coast Walk this Sunday.

The event - organised by Manx Blind Welfare Society (MBWS) and sponsored by Manx Telecom  sees people take on either a 12-mile or 3-mile course with money generated on the day going towards MBWS.

Kicking off with a lap of the outside track at the NSC, participants will then follow a scenic route to Peel along the old steam railway line and finish on the Island’s west coast, in front of the House of Manannan.

The walk will start tomorrow at 1:30pm with check-in from 12:00pm at the NSC - check-in for the shorter three-mile route will open at 2:45pm at St John’s School car park, with walkers expected to set off at 3:30pm.

Volunteers Co-ordinator and Events Organiser at MBWS, Debbie Thompson, says: "Thanks to the fantastic support of Manx Telecom we’re on track for a record-breaking year.

"The team can’t stop talking about it and we’re really excited to get our trainers on, get moving and raise some money."

Meanwhile, Head of Marketing Communications at Manx Telecom, Cathy Collins, adds: "We’re delighted to support this fantastic community event for the first time and are really looking forward to the day.

"Last year more than 350 people took part and over £4,000 was raised for Manx Blind Welfare Society and now we’re ready to help make the 2020 Coast to Coast Walk even bigger and better than before."
