The Chief Minister says it would be in the interests of all Tynwald members to have a "clear policy" on criminal record checks.
Howard Quayle was tackled on the issue in the House of Keys yesterday by Douglas East MHK Clare Bettison.
She wanted to know what consideration had been given to introducing DBS checks - the Disclosure and Barring Service has replaced the former CRB check.
Currently individual government departments have responsibility for managing the issue as they see fit.
