Wire Frame Lanterns Can Cause Fatal Issues With Livestock
Revellers celebrating the Chinese New Year tonight have been asked to refrain from releasing a certain type of lantern into the sky.
There have been cases reported in the UK where the wire structure lanterns have landed in fields and caused serious issues with the livestock.
Incidents of cows eating the lanterns and ingesting the wires and dying as a result have been reported across the UK over the past few years.
An average dairy cow can cost in the region of £1200 and £1500.
The appeal has come from the Manx National Farmers Union, they say they don't want to spoil anyones fun but if eaten by a cow it can cause them a highly unpleasant and painful death.
