Parents Not Happy With Such Short Notice
Much to the delight of school children across the Island an extra day has been added to their Christmas holiday break.
The return date is now January the 5th. That the first Tuesday of next year.
The change has been put down to a number of reasons including lots of families requesting the day off for their kid and helping with staffing issues like covering sick days as director of education John Caine explains (audio above)
Parents are hitting back saying this short notice simply isn’t enough time and they’ll have to take paid leave.
Concerned parents have been texting in to 3fm to say that the decision is disgusting and they now have to pay for child care for an extra day. Many have also commented on how taking leave at such short notice is tricky.
