Parents are being urged to educate their children to respect animals.
The plea comes from the ManxSPCA which says it witnessed three schoolboys from Ramsey throwing rocks at ducks yesterday.
The wildlife officers had been called to attend to an injured duck at The White Bridge at Poyll Dooey at the time.
A post which was shared on Facebook says the children fled when officers approached them to have "stern words".
