Chief Minister Alf Cannan has sent an official letter responding to public concerns raised by an MHK about sentences given to paedophiles.
Douglas South MHK Sarah Maltby said she'd put forward residents' views by raising the issue - with some calling for a national inquiry into sentencing outcomes for child sex offenders.
The Chief Minister said Justice Minister Jane Poole-Wilson was looking at bringing in a council which could review sentences being given and recommend any necessary changes to government.
In his letter to Mrs Maltby Mr Cannan pointed out there's also a 'clear separation' between the legal system and the Island's parliament.
