Douglas North MHK Bill Henderson put the question to him, suggesting Illiam Dhone as a possible candidate.
The Chief Minister said any proposal for creating such a day would require careful consideration in terms of justification, implications and cost.
He said it would be opened up to the public to gather their thoughts; it will also go before the Council of Ministers Governance Committee.
