The Island's Chief Constable has admitted he's worried about the future of local police officers.
Gary Roberts - who released his annual report earlier this month says 'without change, crisis may emerge.'
He says some have had a real term pay cut of close to 20 per cent over the last decade.
He adds "Life is really difficult for many young officers, who now have little disposable income and few chances of establishing themselves on the housing ladder."
Currently, the starting salary for new recruits stands at about £24,000.
Mr Roberts says in recent months many sergeants have expressed how hard things are for them - struggling to afford a social life or dental treatment.
