Chief Constable Russ Foster says he's recruited 44 officers since taking on the job in 2023.
He gave the figures to a Tynwald committee, where he warned of the haemorrhaging of staff from the police force over the next five years.
Chief Constable Foster says the organisation is currently nine officers below the number it has the budget to employ, or its funded strength.
He added 60 percent of frontline officers are still within their two year probation period, so experience is being lost as well.
