The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture is advising landowners to check their trees after Storm Dave at the weekend.
On Facebook, it says you should check trees for signs of damage, cracks, snap-outs or movement at the root-base.
It says some work on trees may require a licence, and people can check online.
And the department adds its staff don't carry out tree safety or risk assessments, so people should use qualified and insured arborists for professional advice.
